Race Report: Cambridge, KY
Women’s A Race---After trying to form a pace in the lead group Hollie Matthews brought her A-game and dominated the woman’s field, placing second in woman’s A’s in an all out raging sprint to the finish. Lindsey Durst recovering from leg cramps in the first day of racing held strong attempting to lead the chase group towards the race leader resulting in a top ten finish.Women’s B Race---Anne Marx in her first criterium ever caught up to a chase group and completed the race strong.Emily Bremer racing in the lead group for half the race unfortunately, and amazingly, broke her chain going up the course’s hill. “I wanted to pick my bike up and keep on going, but my bike wouldn’t let me” said in her own words.Marie Hoffman finished strong going solo before catching up to a chase group in the Women’s B race.Mollie Overby displayed a solid performance by keeping up with a chase group, representing UW well.Men’s A’s Race ------Alex Skip, “knock knock who’s there? …Second… Second who?...Exactly” Meyer kicked butt in the Men’s A race attacking the Marian riders defending their race leaders, finished strong.Josh, “the sugar man” Fangman got cooked after holding on to the main chase group for over half the Men’s A race. Men’s B Race-----Joe Maloney, after taking to Skip’s speech “brought the furry” and crushed the field placing Second in Men’s B’s.Kelby Shaw representing UW- Whitewater led on a chase group and held onto his position in the Men’s B race after gunning shortly after the start for two whole laps.Tyler Van de Voort held his ground making the best of things happen in a chase group of Men’s B’s.Men’s C race -------Alex “Let’s bring back the Glory Days” Martin, also after taking to Skip’s speech, destroyed the Men’s C field sprinting strong into first place for UW - Madison.Sam “Young Driesy” Dries showed amazing charisma attacking on the Men’s C race before unfortunately crashing up the slick hill. This was Sam’s first Crit; his story is to be continued….Ben Grabow held his ground making the most of a chase group finishing strong in the Men’s C race. Men’s D Race-----Mark Cigich after dropping from the lead group lead a paceline attempting to catch a chase group in the Men’s D race, finishing 33rd out of 90.
